How sanjai-devan-cd/crud-json-with-nodejs-expressjs works
Purpose and entry points
This is a small Node.js HTTP API for user management, backed by a JSON file rather than a database service. Process startup is split between server.js (server bootstrap) and index.js (application composition).
Application composition
index.js likely creates/configures the HTTP application and mounts routing; server.js starts it on the configured port. Environment values may be supplied through .env. The package/runtime contract is defined by package.json.
User API boundary
User-facing endpoints are centralized in routes/userRoutes.js. Routes delegate request handling rather than directly accessing persistence, establishing the API/controller boundary.
Controller layer
controllers/userController.js translates HTTP requests into user operations and returns HTTP responses. It is the primary orchestration point between route middleware and domain/service behavior.
Validation and authentication pipeline
Requests pass through middleware before controller execution:
• middlewares/validateUser.js validates user request payloads.
• middlewares/authMiddleware.js enforces the repository’s authentication/authorization boundary.
• middlewares/errorHandler.js converts thrown or forwarded failures into consistent HTTP error responses.
User service and persistence
services/userService.js contains user business and data-access operations. It reads and updates the local persistence store at db/users.json, isolating file-backed storage from HTTP concerns. The main flow is route → middleware → controller → service → JSON store, with results/errors returned back through the controller and error handler.
Runtime and infrastructure constraints
The service runs as a Node.js process, with no external database or cloud infrastructure represented in the repository. Persistence is local-file based (db/users.json), so concurrent writes, durability, and multi-instance deployment would require additional coordination if the API is scaled beyond a single process.
