Purpose and Runtime

A desktop student-record management application for authentication and student CRUD, with an embedded calculator. It runs as a Java Swing application, built by Apache Ant/NetBeans, and persists data through JDBC using the bundled MySQL Connector/J driver.

Application Bootstrap and Navigation

The application entry point initializes the desktop UI flow, beginning at login/signup and transitioning authenticated users to the main student-management experience. Swing views own form widgets and user interaction; controllers mediate their actions rather than exposing persistence directly.

Presentation Layer

NetBeans-generated Swing forms provide the primary desktop screens: login, account creation, student administration, welcome/dashboard, and calculator. Each .form is the UI designer source paired with its Java implementation.

Authentication Boundary

User registration and login are separated into a user controller, DAO, and User entity. This isolates access control UI events from database operations and makes authentication the gate before student-management workflows.

Student CRUD Flow

Student form actions flow through StudentController, which operates on Student entities and delegates record creation, retrieval, update, and deletion to the student DAO. The DAO is the persistence boundary; UI code should remain focused on input collection and displaying results.

Data Model and Database Integration

Student and User represent the application’s core domain records. DBconnection centralizes JDBC connection setup for the external MySQL database, while both DAOs consume that connection layer. Database availability and schema/configuration are runtime dependencies, not embedded infrastructure.

Build and Deployment Shape
