How manoharsamvel24/qr-code-generator-java works
Purpose and Runtime
A Java 21 desktop QR-code generator. It runs as a Swing application, applies FlatLaf styling, uses ZXing to encode text/URLs into QR images, and lets users save or copy generated PNG-compatible images. There is no server, database, or web runtime.
Core dependencies are bundled JARs: QRCodeGenerator/lib/core-3.5.3.jar, QRCodeGenerator/lib/javase-3.5.3.jar, and QRCodeGenerator/lib/flatlaf-3.6.jar.
Entry Point and Application Shell
QRCodeGenerator/src/qrcodegenerator/QRCodeGenerator.java is the likely application entry point and primary Swing window/controller. It initializes the look-and-feel, builds the main desktop UI, and owns user-facing state such as entered content, displayed QR image, progress state, and action availability.
The application is packaged and built as a plain NetBeans/Ant Java project through QRCodeGenerator/build.xml and QRCodeGenerator/manifest.mf.
UI Composition
The main interaction surface is implemented in QRCodeGenerator/src/qrcodegenerator/QRCodeGenerator.java: text input feeds a Generate action; a fixed QR display area presents the resulting image; Save and Copy actions operate on the current generated image.
QRCodeGenerator/src/qrcodegenerator/ButtonSample.java is a separate UI component/sample in the same package, likely providing custom button presentation or reusable button behavior rather than a distinct application runtime.
QR Generation Pipeline
The primary flow is:
1. User enters arbitrary text or a URL in the Swing UI.
2. Generate action validates/reads the input and starts visible progress handling.
3. ZXing core encodes the content as a QR matrix.
4. ZXing JavaSE converts the matrix to an approximately 280×280 image.
5. The generated image becomes the current in-memory QR artifact and is rendered in the QR panel.
This processing boundary is between local UI/controller code in QRCodeGenerator/src/qrcodegenerator/QRCodeGenerator.java and the external ZXing libraries in QRCodeGenerator/lib/core-3.5.3.jar and QRCodeGenerator/lib/javase-3.5.3.jar.
Image Export and Clipboard Boundary
Save/export takes the current in-memory QR image and writes it as a user-selected PNG file through desktop filesystem APIs. Copy transfers that same image to the operating system clipboard for pasting into other local applications.
These are local-machine integration boundaries; neither operation depends on external services. Their triggering UI and generated-image ownership reside in QRCodeGenerator/src/qrcodegenerator/QRCodeGenerator.java.
Presentation and Look-and-Feel
Swing provides native desktop components, event dispatch, dialogs, image rendering, file selection, and clipboard access. FlatLaf supplies the modern visual theme and is packaged at QRCodeGenerator/lib/flatlaf-3.6.jar.
The UI is designed around a stable bordered preview area, so rendered QR output remains visually consistent while users generate, export, or copy images.
Build and Distribution Artifacts
Ant/NetBeans project metadata defines compilation, classpath, and packaging: QRCodeGenerator/build.xml, QRCodeGenerator/nbproject/project.properties, and QRCodeGenerator/nbproject/build-impl.xml.
Compiled output is present under QRCodeGenerator/build/classes/qrcodegenerator, while QRCodeGenerator/outputs holds example/generated visual outputs rather than an application data store.
