How abhilash-ram/restclient works
Purpose and Delivery
RestClient is a static browser application for issuing requests to JSON or XML web services and viewing their responses. It is deployed as a GitHub Pages-style site, with the primary document at index.html and site metadata in _config.yml.
Application Entry and Shell
index.html loads the client application and provides the browser entry point. The main UI shell is separated into partials/app.html, allowing the application script to render or navigate into the request/response workspace.
Paths:
• index.html
• partials/app.html
• js/index.js
Client Controller and Request Flow
js/index.js is the central application runtime. It likely owns client-side routing (the documented URL uses #/app), request construction, submission to remote REST endpoints, and presentation of returned JSON/XML payloads. Browser-side execution is the only material runtime; there is no server code in the repository.
Path:
• js/index.js
Request/Response Workspace
The application’s core workflow is: user selects or enters a service endpoint and request details, the browser sends the HTTP request, then the UI displays the response. partials/app.html is the primary boundary between the application controller and the interactive REST-client workspace.
Path:
• partials/app.html
Response Formatting and Saved Payloads
Response rendering is supported by formatting-specific styles in dep/json-formatter.css and shared application styling in dep/index.css. Saved request or response data appears to use a dedicated HTML partial, suggesting export/download or persisted JSON presentation rather than a backend storage service.
Paths:
• dep/json-formatter.css
• dep/index.css
• partials/save.json.html
External Boundaries
The browser communicates directly with user-selected JSON/XML web-service endpoints. Consequently, request success depends on browser networking and target-service CORS policy. Deployment infrastructure is static hosting, consistent with the documented GitHub Pages URL; no API server, database, authentication service, or build/runtime backend is present.
Paths:
• README.md
• _config.yml
• index.html
